I disagree. I'm sure if someone offered "Toys for Jews" a bunch of Jihad dolls they'd turn them down, too. Sending a jesus doll to a jewish/muslim/hindu/etc kid means it'll probably end up in the trash. Where's the good in that?

They probably contacted some churches and asked if they'd like a few thousand toys to give out at christmas time. Makes sense to me.

You've compared Toys for Tots with 'Toye for Jews'?

Perhaps a better comparison would be an Israeli version of Toys for Tots getting Jewish toys...would they turn them away? Probably not; they are a primarily Jewish nation. Likewise, this is a primarily Christian nation, and Christian toys should not come as a surprise, nor should they be turned away; 'we appreciate your generosity and giving spirit, but we don't like what you give'

Again, if they don't like the toys they get, they can give them back or throw them away.

I don't have numbers to back this, but IMO the percentage of households in the US that would appreciate getting a jesus doll is *MUCH* lower than the percentage of households in israel that would appreciate getting an "Our Messiah Hasn't Come Yet" doll.

Again, if they don't like the toys they get, they can give them back or throw them away.

They were right to turn them down. They were also right to continue to work and find a good place for them. This is a non-issue.

This thread is a week obsolete, they declared they would accept all of the toys over a week ago.

They say "the toys are for Christmas, so there will be no risk of offending those with other faiths and religious beliefs."

They accepted the bible-quoting toys for charity, and will be re-distributing them.

I have a feeling they'll appreciate very little of whatever they get, and probably throw most of it away anyway.

Of course, if it is indeed a tot that's getting the dolls, do you really think they care what kind of doll they have? Or do the parents care more? I doubt a tot can tell the difference between Jesus and Ken.

I just think that if anybody receives anything from Toys for Tots and complains enough about what they got is ingrateful as it is.

I wouldn't expect my child to get a satan doll. I wouldn't expect my child to get pr0n. I wouldn't expect my child to get a doll that prostelitizes.

Israel has more nonbelievers than people tend to think. The nation is 30-40% atheist. Only 36% believe that the Messiah will come.

I agree with Toys for Tots refusing to accept the gifts. They didn't want to give them out because of the religious affiliation. I also agree with Toys for Tots accepting them later once they found appropriate places for the dolls to go.

I think the difference is the organisation made the decision because they deemed it to be a big enough issue.

While you can't please everyone, you can avoid obvious issues

I am gonna agree with you on this one. I don't think they were appropriate for the Toys for Tots organization. If some Christian group wants to give these out themselves to poor kids who can accept or reject them, I have no problem with that. But Toys for Tots has every right to judge what they should hand out since it represents their organization.

When I saw the guy who manufactured the toys on the news, I can't recall exactly (they are a local vendor to my area), he was saying that this was done on purpose, that they wanted to send these dolls to this organization, to A) see if they would distribute them B) If they did, basically get free prostelyzation.

Either way, I believe it is just a stunt by the manufacturer to make a mountain out of jesus dolls.
