| Yea I'm sure they didn't want to turn them down. I guess they could just donate them to inner city churches to deal out. | ||||

They probably contacted some churches and asked if they'd like a few thousand toys to give out at christmas time. Makes sense to me.

Perhaps a better comparison would be an Israeli version of Toys for Tots getting Jewish toys...would they turn them away? Probably not; they are a primarily Jewish nation. Likewise, this is a primarily Christian nation, and Christian toys should not come as a surprise, nor should they be turned away; 'we appreciate your generosity and giving spirit, but we don't like what you give' Again, if they don't like the toys they get, they can give them back or throw them away.

They were right to turn them down. They were also right to continue to work and find a good place for them. This is a non-issue.

| This thread is a week obsolete, they declared they would accept all of the toys over a week ago. They say "the toys are for Christmas, so there will be no risk of offending those with other faiths and religious beliefs." They accepted the bible-quoting toys for charity, and will be re-distributing them. | ||||

Of course, if it is indeed a tot that's getting the dolls, do you really think they care what kind of doll they have? Or do the parents care more? I doubt a tot can tell the difference between Jesus and Ken. I just think that if anybody receives anything from Toys for Tots and complains enough about what they got is ingrateful as it is.

(Source, pg. 10), while most polls show that America is 80% Christian. I agree with Toys for Tots refusing to accept the gifts. They didn't want to give them out because of the religious affiliation. I also agree with Toys for Tots accepting them later once they found appropriate places for the dolls to go.

| And doesn't the Toys For Tots have the right to decide which toys they want to give out? Doesn't sound pretty absurd to say something akin to forcing them to take the toys they don't want to distribute? | ||||

| But doesn't every toy say SOMETHING? A toy piano says "get into the musical arts"? What if music offends me? A toy astronaut would really piss me off if I thought sending people to space was a waste of taxpayer money. My point is, everyone can get offended. If you don't like the possibility of getting a toy ray gun or Jesus doll, get your kids a lump of coal like last year.

| When I saw the guy who manufactured the toys on the news, I can't recall exactly (they are a local vendor to my area), he was saying that this was done on purpose, that they wanted to send these dolls to this organization, to A) see if they would distribute them B) If they did, basically get free prostelyzation. Either way, I believe it is just a stunt by the manufacturer to make a mountain out of jesus dolls. | ||||
