First three things YOU would do as president of the USA

Well guys if you won the presidency of the United States what would your first three items on the list include?

1) Flat tax implemention. The system would be an across the board 15% rate. Personal exemption of 15k for EVERYONE regardless of income. Married households have a 30k exemption. Then a 7500 child exemption for up to three children. This would also be put into an amendment to severly hamper any future effort of overturning the system and protecting everyones rights and property equally. This would require cuts in federal spending across the board. The kind of spending cuts that will force effeciency from the pentagon to the SSA. It should piss off republicans and democrats equally

2) Every school gets the same initial building/maintenance money then a percapita dollar amount will be given based on the number of children at the school. This is regardless of school location, we MUST bridge the gap in funding for suburbia and inner city schools.

3) Peg congress/senate/president/judges salaries to the country GDP. GDP goes up 5% they get a 5% raise. GDP stays the same they get no raise. GDP drops 5% they get a 5% cut.

1. Reform welfare into a back to work organization. Payments start out higher than they are now, and over time they become less and less and the money is spent on helping you find work more and more. For example: First 2 months you get 100% coverage. After that you get 90% coverage and 10% is spent on helping you find work. If you don't find a job before your welfare isn't enough to live off of, you can go try to live off the Mexican government. I'd print out brochures on how to break in and defeat their government and encourage people to do so.

2. Protest the UN. Initiate a massive campaign over the failures of the PC system of the UN and the atrocities they allow to happen for politcally correct reasons. I would do everything I could to make it politically incorrect to be so PC when it comes to human rights violations.

3. Start a national campaign against corrupt politicians on both sides of the isle and try to reform our government. No more paid advertisements allowed for politicians. They have to do live appearances and debates only. Transcripts will be provided by media outlets and televison. Politicians make the national average salary of the common citizen. You shouldn't have to be rich to be a politician, I'd do everything I could to change that. If convicted of any felony or corruption charges you automatically lose your position and are unable to run for any federal office.

1) Appoint the 9th circuit to the Supreme Court

2) Make all campaigns publically financied according to how much of a popular vote they recieved in the last presidential and congressional election (There'd be a slightly better formula but I didn't graduate with a degree in math)

3) Massive funding expansion in education, which gives all its kids free healthcare, this is paid for my restoring taxes to their 1935 levels of 90%+ income tax levels for the top tier

1) End the war on drugs.. and raise penalties drastically for drug trafficking/selling and lower penalties for small possession.

2) Start a big push to legalize marijuana. Let the tobacco companies grow some of the best strains available and tax the hell out of it.

3) Gather a committee of various state healthcare officials, top healthcare administrators, physicians, pharmacists and nurses and formulate a proposal for congress to completely revamp and create a healthcare SYSTEM instead of this joke of beuracracy and patchwork of ammendments that forms today's healthcare "system".... which will include medicaid and medicare (or whatever equivalent program) BOTH being managed by the state level.

Bonus) Privatize social security even if the system isn't in jeopardy. Pay for the transition with tax revenue from marijuana sales.

1. build the wall and HEAVILY penalize a company that hires illegals (and I mean HEAVILY)

2. flat tax with no exemptions, not personal or corporate. I'll pay 17% and so will McDonalds

3. give the military permission to do what it needs to do so they can finish and come home

1. Count the votes. Ensure paper trails and make election day into election weekend.

2. Open the government. Full transparency. Require elected representatives to publicly answer questions from randomly selected individuals weekly.

3. Energy independence. National mission to wean ourselves off oil in five years.

In other words forget your constitutional free speech rights. The only right you have is to have money taken away form you to support candidates you don't agree with. This will be great for popular incumbents!

There is no FREE! And that tax rate will have the most productive fleeing to China and India. In fact I read that Vietnam is working market economics these days!

1. Entitlement Reform! That is what will break this country in the coming decades! Problems is it won't get you elected to either party!

2. Lobby Reform! We need to revert ot a free market economic system and let the chips fall where they may, not a government favor and handout system. This is one area that Perot was right about!

3. Privatize all eduaction and give appropriate vouchers and college funding to the poor that qualify. Not race or gendar based. All public funding will be performanced based. Tenure and union job protection is history! Educators claim they need more money to attract better people. Lets prove it!

1.) I think that I would do something about the campaign reform issue. There were some good suggestions on this thread for that.

2.) If this hypothetical is in '08 then I would want to seriously start up an isolationist attitude with other countries, it's time we minded our business instead of the nosey body we have turned into.

3.) And I would want to stop funding the War on Drugs.

1. End all wars or US participation in the wars and foreign protectionist actions... this includs the war on drugs, terror, poverty, etc. This would involve reevaluating the need for those who carry out the orders of war which is a lot of the military, DEA, ATF, FBI, as well as selling US bases around the world back to the country it is contained (that obviously doesn't include any weapons, just the land). Until laws could be updated, federal pardons would be given to all non-violent offenders of current laws (this especially pertains to drugs, but I guess it could apply to other war-like actions)

2. Open borders and reassign INS responsibilities to track immigration rate, dispersion, job placement, what is causing the immigrants to move here, etc... Have economists monitor unemployment rate and the effects the rate of immigration has on it to figure out when the immigrant population is too large or the rate is too fast.

3. End federal monies to just about everything. Put responsibility back onto the states (if they want to fund something, they can). This will eventually end the need for federal income tax, but until the national debt is wiped out, it would need to continue to be collected. Once the debt was zeroed, the federal reserve would be gotten rid of, and responsiblity of the dollar would be given back to the treasury.

Of course, a lot of that isn't exactly within the scope of powers of the president, but if there was a president with my ideals, I'm sure there'd be a lot of congressmen who would back that stuff up.

I would pull American forces out of harms way immediately and without hesitation.

Then, I would tell the world the following:
- My predessor removed a tyrant, demolished a country, rebuilt it and all
that is now history. What he did has now been accomplished. It's done!
- I will not discusss Iraq in terms of winning or losing.
- I could not care less who "wins" or who "loses.
- My only concern is for "who dies next" and what can I do to prevent that.

Then I would add:

"If there is anything we, as Americans, can do to help stop Arabs from killing other Arabs we will be glad to participate, but only in concert with a genuine, UN sponsored, peacekeeping force".
