Honeymoon

I'm getting married in October, and I really need to figure out something cool to do with a honeymoon. My fiance is a marine ecologist, so I figure going to the Carribean would be very nice for her, and some of the islands down there are very beautiful...

but I have no idea what to do! I haven't even decided on an island, I have no idea if I should go through a travel agent or do it all myself, I dunno! I've been thinking about Saba, but it's not the easiest island to get to... I'd rather not spend a lot of money on getting TO the island, that way I have more money to spend on the rest of it. St. Lucia looks pretty cool, even though it has 150k people on it. I've also been thinking about Tobago, which is pretty far south but that's probably good since it's out of the way of hurricanes.

Let me layout some info for each possible destination:

Saba: -- Pros: Very good diving, small island with small population -- Cons: Hard to get to, despite being a member of the Netherland Atilles it's actually in the Hurricane Belt
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saba
https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...k/geos/nt.html

Tobago: -- Pros: Very good diving, not in Hurricane belt, should be fairly easy to get to since Trinidad is a decent size -- Cons: It's kinda far away and I'm sure that'll be reflected in the cost
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobago
https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...k/geos/td.html

St. Lucia: -- Pros: Easy to get to, decent diving, plenty to do since it's a larger island (compared to the other two), listed rainy season ends in August -- Cons: At the bottom of the hurricane belt, population/other tourists
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Lucia
https://www.cia.gov/cia/publications...k/geos/st.html

I'm kinda leaning toward St. Lucia at the moment, but I know my fiance would love to go to Saba for the diving... then Tobago's diving is just as good as Saba's and is a little easier to get to. Dammit

Then there's the issue of having NO idea who I should talk to about planning such a thing, like booking a hotel and possibly whatever else we want to do while we're down there. I guess a travel agent, but I don't know anything about them and even if they're worth shit.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Couple grand... it's gotta have good diving, that's really the only requirement, and it's too expensive to get to the south pacific, so that seems to leave carribean

I've been to a bunch of Carribbean islands and my favorite by far is Grand Cayman. The place is unbelievably clean, and locals are friendly. GC is just much more civilized than most places and I know they have some diving options, but I'm not into that type of thing. Look into it.

Isn't it a big tourist destination though? I don't want it to be crowded. But then, I guess I'm going in October... that's not tourist season is it?

It's far from a secluded island, that's for sure. If you want to live in a hut away from civilization GC is not the place to go.
