U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.

I really don't see how al-Maliki wants help from Ahmadnijihad (sp?) when his country is contributing to the chaos in Iraq.

Will his help come in the form of stoppage of weapons transport and fighter training? Why haven't we done a better job of securing the borders?

To Hell with this conservative opinion piece! Until I see some actual quotes from the Iraqi insurgents and Iranians weapons suppliers, I'm not gonna believe this.

On a more serious note, I believe the Iran is trying to set themselves up to be the saviors of the Iraqi people, much like Hezbollah have done in Lebanon, except the Iranians won't be doing it by proxy this time. If Iran becomes the leader of the Middle East, we're in deep doo-doo.

That's where they're headed right now. Iran is connected to Hezbollah too, don't forget.

This is what no planing, no foresight, and rushing into war gets us. It's unfortunate and it's going to take decades of better foreign policy to begin to solve the problems we've created.

The biggest way to be salv aged is to win a major offensive against the Insurgents who're causing the mess and weaken them so much so that there's be real stability in Iraq.

I'm not sure, but from what I hear from people over there the everyday Mohammed-on-the-street loves the americans being there. Salvaging the situation is going to have to include the citizens and is going to take a while. I'm not sure any US politician (who wants to get re-elected, anyway) is going to commit to being there 20 years to protect their borders to allow iraqis to figure it out for themselves while so many americans are pissed that we're not protecting our own from the insurgents from our south.
