well the premise is that they only did this "X" so you can only justifiably fight back to the point of doing this "Y"

and if Y is greater than X, then you are doing something terrible

it's a bad arguement, especially when you take into account the length of time, the removal of future threat, etc

fighting Hezbollah isn't just about smacking them on the wrist for capturing 2 soldiers, obviously it is more than that, it is about trying to cripple an organization much like the US has tried to cripple Al Queda...

his arguement basically falls apart pretty easily

There needs to be a response, but I don't think knowingly bombing civilians is proportional, even if you think they are guilty just because they didn't leave their property when told by Israel.
