When the time comes, I'll pick which one is most comfortable and that I feel I can get the most for my money.
Of those you listed, I like the altima the best of the group. I have 2 friends with maxima's and one with a newer altima and they are nice cars. Man up and get the 6 cylinder though

Of the ones I mentioned, that was low on the list I'll admit though, they have gotten a good deal better in the past few years.

Personally I prefer GM vehicles. If i want a girly turd beater i'd say something foreign like a civic. With GM i'd start at a Pontiac G6. I think they look nice and when properly equipped have a good mix of horsepower and fuel economy. The buick lucerne looks good too, especially when done up right with a good set of wheels. I like any cadillac really, though not a huge fan of the SRX. Where i really like GM vehicles is the trucks. The new GMC Sierra or the new Chevy avalanche are really good looking. Displacement on demand bumps their fuel economy up or they can also do E85. In the mean time they have 300+ horsepower.

One thing I always thought was great for GM is the fact they can release 325+ horsepower cars and still get 25mpg on the highway. Caddy cts-v series, corvette, corvette z06, camaro ss, trans am ws6, the GTO, etc. Any of them with a 6 speed and you get really good gas mileage and they are not pussified.

Economy car is more than just gas milege. It's what you get for the money. Tell me what I can get from GM for $15k that I can drive for 10 years.

The 2007's had their warranty bumped up to 5 years/100,000 miles. I would be willing to bet that, if driven like a normal person and not hot dogging around doing tranny drops and whippin shitters, along with performing regularly scheduled maintanence, the new Cobalt would run for 10 years. If taken care of, washed regularly, it should look presentable for that time period as well.

I think just about any car these days will run for a long time as long as they are shown the proper TLC.

Maybe... I just see a LOT MORE 15-20 year old Hondas driving around than American cars

The Cobalt isn't bad, but it's so uncomfortable. I drove one for 3 hours (rented) and I thought my ass was going to fall off.

See if you can find somewhere to test drive the fit. I promise you, you will be pleasantly suprised at how good it feels and how BIG it feels on the interior.

The "supped up" 3's are no longer economy, lol. Why would I pay 25k for a car like that when I could spend 2k more and get a freakin RX8

That's because the quality of the cars wasn't what it is now back then most likely.

If you want comfort in a GM car you really need to get a Buick or Cadillac really

Can't you convert almost any car to run on E85? I remember seeing a link awhile back but I can't find it anymore

That's what I said in a previous post. The only comfortable American car I've driven is a Caddy.

I thought E85 needed no converting... that it was interchangable with gas?

I think it depends on the engine..like who made it, but with the chevy trucks i believe the main difference is the O2 sensor. I think you also need to replace some rubber tubing.

I'm pretty sure modern cars don't use rubber anymore. The only reason I say this is because when I was researching stuff about biodiesel, I saw that older cars have to have their rubber engine parts updated b/c the fuel eats it away, whereas modern cars don't use that anymore

there are a couple of parts that they need to change because E85 would corrode them. That's really the only difference. Also the fuel pump needs to be capable of delivering the extra fuel under WOT and the CPU needs to have an additional fuel mapping or atleast a more versatile one. The engine it self is the same. E85 is never going to become mainstream. THey though that CNG cars were going to take off. They never did.
