| Election 2008: Bayh Way Behind Both Giuliani and McCain Rasmussen Reports - Indiana Senator Evan Bayh (D) announced the formation of a presidential campaign exploratory committee last week and that appears to be the easiest part of his bid for the White House. Indiana Senator Evan Bayh (D) announced the formation of a presidential campaign exploratory committee last week and that appears to be the easiest part of his bid for the White House. Republican hopeful Rudy Giuliani holds a 17-point edge over Bayh, leading the Democrat 51% to 34%. Another leading Republican contender, John McCain, holds an even bigger lead. The Arizona Senator earns 52% of the vote when matched against Bayh, enough for a 20-point lead. In the Democratic primary competition, the good news for Bayh is that he has nowhere to go but up. At the moment, he attracts less than one-half of one percent support from Democratic voters. McCain and Giuliani currently lead all Democratic contenders including Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John Edwards, Senator John Kerry, Senator Barack Obama, and former Vice President Al Gore. Giuliani currently earns the highest level of support among Republican voters in GOP Primary match-ups. However, McCain is considered the front runner by many. Rasmussen Reports is continuously updating favorability ratings and match-ups for a variety of Democratic and Republican Presidential aspirants. We also provide favorables for Congressional Leaders and other political figures. Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information. | Bayh has announced he's not running. This is about as big a blow to the Democrats as when Bill Frist announced he wasn't going to run was to the Republicans.... | ||||
