20 July 2006: Israeli Soldiers use civilians as Human Shields in Beit Hanun
B'Tselem's initial investigation indicates that, during an incursion by Israeli forces into Beit Hanun, in the northern Gaza Strip, on 17 July 2006, soldiers seized control of two buildings in the town and used residents as human shield.
After seizing control of the buildings, the soldiers held six residents, two of them minors, on the staircases of the two buildings, at the entrance to rooms in which the soldiers positioned themselves, for some twelve hours. During this time, there were intense exchanges of gunfire between the soldiers and armed Palestinians. The soldiers also demanded that one of the occupants walk in front of them during a search of all the apartments in one of the buildings, after which they released her.
International humanitarian law forbids using civilians as human shields by placing them next to soldiers or next to military facilities, with the intention of gaining immunity from attack, or by forcing the civilians to carry out dangerous military assignments.
B'Tselem has demanded that the Judge Advocate General immediately order a Military Police investigation into the matter and prosecute the soldiers responsible for the action.

Israel does this shit, ALL THE TIME.

It is part of the IDF defense strategy that sometimes this tactic must be used.

Now tell me a action defying international humanitarian law is not terroristic.

If it was the palestinians doing this, you guys would be all over them.

Anyways, the Palestinians are actually doing really good.

I mean, if it was me - and this happend in America - we would be ALOT more violent, and go on for a LOT longer.

Lobbying and political pressure for this began decades before 1917. And the "super powers" didn't make this decision, the UN did. If you have a beef go bitch there.

It should be the palestinians land. Everyone knows it, mainly the Palestinians, and until it is returned, there will never be peace in the ME

But rest assured, the hypocracy of your position isn't lost. The arabs took that land by force and you're saying that's ok, but you're saying it's not ok that they had it taken away by force. I *love* double-standards!!

Do you not find it a little ironic that Israel was formed by the UN but they ignore every UN resolution thrown their way?

it wasn't always that way... it was split 50/50 until the palestinians decided they didn't want a country if it included being next to jews. once they attacked all bets were off and israel had every right to "occupy" the rest of the area to protect themselves.
