Why don't you feel he'd be a good or viable candidate?

With how deep Bush has gotten us into a bad situation in Iraq, I think we need someone at the helm with real command military experience. Someone who understands what it means to send troops into battle, who's been a soldier themselves, etc.. None of the other candidates really have that.

Because he wanted to invade Chechnya, iirc. If I don't, then it is because a military commander is exactly what we don't want as our president. For a variety of reasons.

So you would rather have someone with no military experience running this country in a time of war?

It's a solid plan. It's been working great so far.

Don't forget that neither Lincoln, Wilson, nor FDR had any military experience.

It seems that those without military experience are the first to dump us into hellish war, yet those with military experience are the first to avoid it all costs.

I picked the token Libertarian, but in the interest of seeing an election get won, I would vote for Duncan Hunter if he were the Republican candidate. I saw him on the news the other day, he looked fairly promising.

The REAL McCain

I hope he wins the primary

He's the best bet, he flip flops enough as a senator to be kerry 2.0 and even if he did win, he's not a moronic mule like bush

About as good as Hillary Clinton explaining to Code Pink why she voted for the war in 2003 and why we had to do it ourselves without the UN SC vote just like Clinton did Kosovo and Bosnia:

And we did it alone as the United States, and we had to do it alone. And so I see it somewhat differently. So forgive me for my experience and perspective.
Yet this past weekend she says:

You know, I acted on the best judgment that I had at the time, and at the time I said this was not a vote for preemptive war, and the president took my vote and other votes and basically misused the authority we gave him.

But.. when she gave the authority to Bush she said we should do it alone and without Security Counsel support like Bosnia and Kosovo. That's not admitting a mistake. She's lying.

She's just up shit's creek over her support of the war and she's backtracking to all hell trying to get herself out of it.

This poll should change at last bi-weekly, as things constantly change and people fall out of favor and/or the race.

I dont think so. Eisenhower actually talked of to much military build up and to be careful to not have the military gain to much control or influence in government. Then look at today and the 450 billion dollar budget. Look at today where any candidate who even breathes "i think we should cut <insert something here>" it is automatically political suicide.

The hellish wars are those which were fought for policital or geo political gain. They were wars that the people were not behind. Wars such as Vietnam and Iraq. Wars where it appears that our young citizens are going to die for nothing or die for someone elses freedom, not our our freedom. Those wars which the people were behind it, like WW2, were successful because nearly the entire country supported it.
