of Kerry's crewmates who was actually involved in the incident that led to Kerry's injury stated that Kerry's injury could not have been self-inflicted since Kerry was bending down to pick up an M-16 at the time. The two crewmates who were with Kerry during the incident categorically dismiss as false the claim that Kerry got his injury due to misfiring an M-79 grenade launcher.

John Kerry could NOT have gotten his Purple Heart(s) without his Commander's recommendation. Indeed, regulations do not allow combatants to nominate themselves Purple Hearts or award it to themselves.

The severity of a person's injury is irrelevant to the award of a Purple Heart. The injury had to be sustained due to an outside force or in action against an enemy or hostile foreign force - or even from friendly fire (including self-inflicted wounds as long as gross negligence was not involved). So SBV's claims against Kerry on these aspects are outrageous and without merit. Not to mention the fact that, as Richard Holbrooke has pointed out, "The distance between a light wound and death is an inch. It's one aorta. It's one artery."

Many purple heart awards were made to Swift Boat personnel in the Vietnam era, for wounds similar to those sustained by Kerry. So, SBV's claim that Kerry did not deserve his award is equivalent to saying that the Purple Hearts won by many of those who served in Vietnam were undeserved. I invite them to announce this in public.

SBV member Louis Letson, who claims he treated Kerry and downplays his wound, was NOT the doctor who signed Kerry's sick call sheet and was not a Kerry crewmate. There is no proof he ever treated Kerry and he apparently started to recollect his memories of Vietnam just last year (2003).
so, who is telling the truth? honestly, i don't know, as even primary sources are conflicting. but none in this forum can claim fact as their statement. methinks, though, many will continue to forward these 'facts' in future threads.

In other words you claim only one statement is false and refuse to back it up. Yet you say:

Everything you said is false and spin because you have bought into all this bullshit.
You're strongly contradicting yourself. First you respond with just a rolleyes smilie. Then when I say the truth hurts, you lay in the cheap jab me with your phrase "in your head." I pressure you to back up your statements and your rude posts and all you can come up with is "why does it matter?"

If you're going to rudely post and say everything in a post is false, you might actually want to back up your claim in the future as opposed to essentially admitting the content in the post was correct, it just doesn't happen to matter to you.

We both are, we're just talking about two different things.

From your source.. defending the fact he shot himself in the leg...
"...even a "friendly fire" injury can qualify for a purple heart "

Spin. It's spin. Get it through your head.

It doesn't matter about the book with an upside down flag or the the videos. The fact that you cry about it like there is something wrong at all is the spin.

no, we're not. you've made allegations against kerry's service record. i've provided evidence that runs counter to everything you've said regarding this.

You call it "spin spin spin" all you want. However, rudely making posts against another user and claiming everything they said is false is quite different from your personal opinion of "spin" no?

"Get it through your head..." that to some people, disgracing the flag by turning it upside down is offensive. Obviously some anti-war followers and people we don't oppose flag burning and the like wouldn't have a problem with disgracing the flag to make a point. But to many others, it's a disgrace. They may support their right to do it, but when someone does it is quite often considered offensive.

And the political videos show a lot about his character. Some choose to ignore it and call it "spin", yet others look at it for what it is... strange and politically motivated.

Can't wait to see who they pick in 08. This should be good.
He got approx 48% of the country's vote, and if 60,000 votes were different you'd be calling him Mr. President

And you wouldn't be able to blame it in a third party like Dole did in 96 and Bush I did in 92

48% of the country wanted to elect an inarticulate, uncharismatic liberal senator from a liberal state as President

The last election was the election to vote against the worst candidate. I think most voters weren't happy with the person they voted for. If '08 has decent candidates, the GOP would be ignorant to cite the victory in 04.

Some guys just can't understand that it was not a joke. Saying that it is is the spin, and not the truth.
