They seem to have pleanty of them. I'm just finshing up training at the new job, but the server I followed today works 60-80 hrs/wk

I think I should be able to pull what I make at the old job just fri-sun night at the new job and it'd be nice to be off after school during the week.

I agree with the above. Don't burn your bridges. You've been with them 2 and a half years... you should keep that as a good business relationship.

That's true.

I hate how they can fire you on the spot and you are supposed to be gracious about it and just roll with it, but if you walk out of a place withouot giving notice they will usually try and screw you.

They act like it's more important that they recieve notice to hire someone else than it is for them to give you notice so you can feed your family.

I agree, I was planning on sticking with the job or putting in my 2 weeks notice shortly then hopefully getting a job back there in the summer if where i'm working now won't hire me back so now I'm kinda thinking fuck it. I mean I shouldn't have a problem finding a job paying $7-8/hr next summer. And if I can't I'll mow my parents yards and pick up a couple other clients.

the plan right now is to turn in my 2 weeks tonight and walk out no earlier than saturday.

Uhh, no. When I quit I give ample notice because there's a chance I may need them again. In college I quit UPS in March to finish up some end-of-year stuff. I expected to have a job by June but didn't. On a whim I called my former boss and asked if there was any way he could get me back in. He was very happy with my work, my attitude, and with the fact that I didn't fuck him when I left so he found a way to get me back in. I ended up staying another year while they paid for college classes I was expecting to pay for myself.

But, if you get fired, fuck them. Gracious? No. I was fired from one job. I went to my manager's boss, HR, the VP of HR, and just about everyone in the dept so they knew what a cocksucker my manager was. HR lady ended up agreeing with me and I used her and someone in my dept as references instead of my manager. It royally pissed him off, but he really sucked so it made it that much more fun.

you can be gracious about it, but your friends and family can stop supporting the business

Every person is in business for themself, just as the company you work for is looking out for their business interests. They won't feel sorry for you when they fire you and you shouldn't feel sorry for them if you are going to quit. Do what will work best for you.. and consider that what is best for you may not be without consequences...such as not being able to use them for a reference.

If it is justifiable and makes sense to leave without notice then do it. If it is not, give them notice.
