Question for the guys, but i'll hear from the girls too

This is very sterotypical girl question, but I sense many a sensible man here, so I am curious for your opinions:

Lately, my fragile self-esteem has been battered by you're too: skinny, fat, bony, jiggly, (insert any adjective to describe a girl's body).

What in your opinion is right for a woman's body. And yes, I know it all depends on personal taste. The comments have aroused my curiosity though...

Your gut should not stick out farther than your boobs

You should not be able to see your ribs when you're just walking around in a bikini

Generally you should not have a gut at all unless you have huge natural boobs

That's been my rule for considering whether to buy a girl a drink or ask her out to dinner

Someone who takes care of herself and has pride in how she looks.

I've dated girls from 5'8"/114 lbs and 5'2"/150 lbs........ what matters most is how she feels about herself and how that affects her outlook on life. Weight/height/"tone" only have a little to do with beauty.

......but then again, we're gonna need pics so we know what we're working with here (hey, it couldn't be 100% serious, coudl it? )

The most important part is how you carry yourself. I've been attracted to both skinny women (with ribs and bikinis) as well is more curvey women. The common factor in all of them is that they know and are confident in what they have and who they are. People can easily sense a person's confidence when they walk into the room.

There is nothing wrong with wanting self-improvement, but at the same time being confident in who you are. That's a beautiful mix, and it makes the girl at the more beautiful.

I wish I could help, but I don't have a body type that the guys "go" for. I've been on the chunky side since I was a kid, and I've always had to battle that. The hardest part is when I was at that age where I knew I had attraction to the opposite sex, but just assumed that it was pointless because I didn't look like what I thought I had to look like.

A long time ago, I just said Fuckit.

Yeah, sure, the important thing is confidence...But I think the more important thing is that if whoever in your life can't see you past what your body shape is, then they aren't looking at what they should be looking at anyways.

I don't want to care if the opposing gender thinks that I have this "woman" thing down, because I don't have it down...I'm just going to be me, and if that fits what a woman should or shouldn't be, then so be it.

I'm tired of being defined by what I look like and how because I am a woman, I am supposed to go by a whole set of rules for appearence, that frankly, I can't follow, and don't want to follow...

Just do your own thing and fuck what people think about what part of you is jiggily or not jiggily enough for these imaginary standards that we are all held to.

Women have such fucked up self esteem issues. My wife is beautiful and complains all the time about her body. There is nothing I can say or do that can counter her low self esteem.

You've only known her for years... she's been beaten down since she was 2 or 3 years old..................... you'll never catch up.

I volunteer in my son's 2nd grade class and i get there just as they're getting back from lunch. I often overhear girls (remember, this is 2nd grade) talking about their weight and the fat content in their lunch. It disgusts me.

The problem is...everyone posting on this site is just TOO sensible. It's extremely discouraging to face a world every day where someone has a comment to make.

I've heard it from my parents, people I go to school with, people I work with, people I dance with...

It is sick, and unfortunately, younger and younger kids are learning to hate themselves. It's this whole trans fat battle too, how can you expect kids not to pick up on it.

Opinions are like navels...

...but anyway, I'm not sure what you're asking. It's a problem that everyone on this forum is sensible? What is it you're looking for?

You are always going to be too fat or too skinny for someone. Just do what makes you happy and worry about what you think of yourself. If you think you are too skinny, we can go to lunch. If you think you are too fat, just eat healthy and work out. Use less emotion when thinking about it and use more logic.

Girls who even THINK they're too fat (reality be damned) should work out. Even if they don't lose a pound, they'll FEEL better about themselves.

Getting my wife to work out is like pulling teeth though

But curly is a dancer... so she's physically active at least.

That is fucked up man. But they learn that shit from their mothers... where did their mothers learn it from? It had to start somewhere. Were women 50 years ago battling the same self-image problem women today do?

It's semi silly if it's coming from the fashion world, but child obesity is a huge problem. Mostly from video games, but less donuts and pizza rolls for kids is prolly a good thing. I remember being told to watch the fat content of the food I ate in elementary school.
