U.S. Minimum Wage History

The chart doesn't have specific numbers, but the red dots are the federal min wage and it's easy to see that in 1994 the fed min was over $4

EDIT: Just noticed that even your link shows the federal min at $4.25 at that time
In one of those charts, in 1968 the minimum wage was damn near equal to 8 or 9 bucks an hour. To have it at those levels today...wow the conservative outrage

In order to get free rentals I work at a video store once a week for four and a half hours.

I sit on the counter and watch movies for 45 minutes of every hour. Tonight I think I'm going to get stoned before going in.

I do not deserve $7.25 for this job.

Most of your post can be summed up and answered with one quick response.

however how long do you think it takes to get an education? to get a raise and move up?
Most people working minimum wage are not out trying to get an education...except for high school students, in which case they aren't really raising a family, are they?

Within a few years, it's very easy to become a manager of some type pretty much wherever you work.

Most aren't trying to get an education? Most aren't trying to better themselves?

So most adults working a minimum wage jobs are viewed by you to be lazy, ignorant people?

the second part.. Within a few years. A few years living on a $5.15 minimum wage...that's so easy, right?

It doesn't remain at minimum wage, my friend. You cannot simplify this, no matter how hard you try.

no, I can't get you to understand what life is like having to live on minimum wage because of your prejudices against those people.

you can't be realistic when you're not presenting a realistic analysis.

The minimum wage should be set, automatically, by economic indicators.

The only changes should be if there is some sort of economic problem that would cause a cascade effect.

on a serious note, some of you need to get off the kick that the poor don't try, don't like to work, have no ambition, or are uneducated.
