| Minimum wage increase vs. tax cuts ok, i have to admit, i think the republicans are taking it to the democrats on this one. i like this bill. it'll be interesting to see what happens. are the democrats going to vote it down and say 'sorry all you minimum wage-earners, we won't give you a wage increase because the rich are getting a tax break!' or are the republicans going to cave in to the democrats? or will it get passed as is? | ||||

If a college student can't find a $7.15/hr job but still wants to work for $5.15/hr, why should the government say you can't do that?

There is no poor anti-minimum wage hike movement, thats just making shit up Let's compare economies shall we? States with higher than mandated minimum wages: California Illinois New York Florida OMG, those are 4 of the top 5 GSPs in the country! Also, all those 4 states beat Texas in per capita PI! Shocking

Those states are richer overall, but what about the poverty rates in those states, are they any lower than other states? The answer is no. Except for florida, 3 out of your 4 picks have higher than the national average for poverty rates as well. Table 2

| I would vote no for the bill. The tax cuts are not responsible. We are still running deficits. I dont understand why republicans do not grasp this concept of you need to pay your bills. I thought they were the party of fiscal responsibility. I would vote no for this just like i would have voted no for the bill that put the "bridge to no where" attached to funding for troops. Then i dont support the troops! | ||||
