min wage there is about half the new national requirement...

to make things worse, the average wage in Northern Mariana was ~$2.50 before this bill, so the bullshit argument that the raise would be too high cannot be used...

Guess who is exempt from the minimum wage?

I've already posted thoughts in this existing thread.

WAAAAAAHHHHHH!

But the progressive left are in charge now! Try to act like it!

After 6 years of Bush and Republican bashing and throwing rocks, tree limbs, and piles or dirt, the far left electorate (not all Dems) can't take the heat in the kitchen even in jest.

Look at my original post! Did you see the question mark? Did you read where I said this may be nothing more than an "embarrasment?" I don't make a total fool of myself like some of this board who don't get both sides of the story before they post!

But NO! I am a tinfoil hat loon!

This is good and we will see where it goes in the media and in factual truth.

Lighten up and take off those tight shorts.

It's not an embarrasment at all, Samoa is extraordinarily small and has businesses that are unfit for a huge spike

WTF!

Small Business is small everywhere! Try to have a profit over payroll! Do you have a clue how many small businesses fail in America? What does the size of Samoa have to do with it? What about the working families that can't get a decent wage! The Children!

if Somoa gets a special clause, then shouldnt poor states with high unemployment like West Virginia and Mississippi get them too ?

Uhm, want to talk about business based on a 2.35 wage jumping to 7.25 when these are the ONLY BUSINESSSES that do any sort of major employment?

See, the people from Samoa can't just drive over to another state...it's an isolated economy, it'd be like "lets set a minimum wage for the entire world at 7.25 an hour!" yeah, that'd work

It's not great, but it's being realistic, Samoa is a special isolated situation, I'm sorry if it goes over your head or you don't really care about Samoa you just like to jab Democrats, if anyone has anything intelligent to say, I'll respond

But as Pelosi said, she doesn't have any lobbying connections to the corporation and there's no dirty tricks going on

Yeah because WV consists of 7,000 workers

Again, if any intelligent comments are made...

I don't think they understand

If one single business there employs the vast majority of the Island and the wage is incrased, nothing would change.

Yes!

I just heard on teh FOX news that the Tuna Factory in Samoa began in 2002 so the Republican history is not connected......

Not that Republicans have a history of pushing a minimum wage increase with a single pure coincidence exemption!

:sigh:

Samoa's minimum wage is handled by a different commitee and has been for a long time.

Them being exempt in this bill is not something out of left field.

What about the small % number of people on minimum wage from low income homes, or the few who stay on these jobs over 1 to 3 years. When is that being "realistic?" Somehow those facts seem to slip from your grasp but Samoa is the small "minority" that is somehow out of government managed wage market consideration and unimportant?

And Pelosi is to be believed by her word? Everybody move-on! Does this extend to Republican guilt by association? I think not!
