I wanted to get into lock picking a few years back, but the tools are illegal... or, at least they were.

I don't think the tools were ever illegal, actually.

I still kind of want to learn how to lockpick.

locks basically keep the honest people out. Crooks will break into your home/car anyway possible. And the average padlock can be defeated by hitting them with a shoe

what about a thick bolt?

if things ever got bad I thought about getting a metal bar for my door, the only problem is what would serve as a good hinge?

Look for the Swedish PDF file, it explains the art of the "Bump Key", you cut any normal key to the deepest setting on the grinder (9), and any lock this key fits in -- it will undoubtedly open. 97.9% of all locks will open easily with this method, just insert and give it a BUMP, then turn the knob and the lock is open.

It works on Newtons physical principle of action/reaction, and the funny thing is -- the more sophisticated and expensive a lock is THE EASIER IT IS TO OPEN. Because less motion is lost to friction due to a "superior design", and more energy is transferred to the pins and tumblers -- making them incredibly easy to open

go through the door. Most people have shitty doors.

Solid steel or 2" thick hard wood at the very least.

Even then, get the jig saw out and cut around the locks
