The US knew they were serious because China did EXACTLY that in North Korea when we refused to stay away from the Chinese border. If we tried to take away the supplies the VC was recieving from the NVA army, then the Soviets and China would have stepped in and supplied NV, if we tried to take over the whole country, China could have sent in troops of its own, again, to fight the US

Something that a lot of those on the "right" including many in the administration can't say for themselves because they had other priorities. I am not going to defend "left" people for skipping out on serving their country, but the "left" does not have control of all three branches of government either.
So when you say "the left" i assume that includes me and other democrats... and you see why i may take up argument with that.

I think most of the disagreement in this country over the Iraq war has to do with how it's being run by the civilian leadership. The military has done a fantastic job so far in a shitty situation, the failures we've had have all been politically oriented, from the President's decision to not listen to his General's on down.

by all accounts, we would have like a 100-1 kill ratio and we slaughtered them pretty easy From what I've heard from anonymous military reports, is that the Sunnis in AA have groups of former special republican guards who are probably the best trained soldiers firing on American troops since the German Army

| Well, we'll have to know exactly what part of Iraq he served in to answer that. But, I don't believe it's unreasonable to suggest that there are Iraqi insurgents in some areas and foreign fighters in others. | ||||
