Has It Ever Been This Bad!

When, I ask, has the world's political climate ever been this lame?

Truman used to talk about the dearth of public wisdom between
the ages of Jackson and Lincoln, but I wonder what he would think
about today's political roster.

Back in 68' when the President could not dare visit the town where
his party's convention was taking place for fear of starting a conflagration,
we had to choose the least offensive, from an appallingly short list of
losers.

By today's standards, VP Humphrey, the only person in America at that
time with nothing bad to say about how things were going, would be
just fine.

Does anyone remember Al Gore, on the tonight show, chatting with
Letterman about a glass ashtray he had brought along. He was going
on and on about this silly piece of federal propety, completely ignorant
of the fact that that smoking in federal buildings had been banned.

Also completely ignorant was his sense that this conversation would
be the thing that huge numbers of people would remember during the
next election cycle. An opportunity to let people see what makes
you tick, and what do we get? Ashtray nonsense. When a handful
of votes could have made a monumental difference. A moment in
time not just wasted, but alas, triggering the emergence the only
person alive more out of touch.

Now Gore has this book that says the planet is about to meltdown,
but cannot explain why this information wasn't available just two
years ago when Kerry was frantically searching for a campaign issue
that wasn't twenty years past due (Vietnam vs. National Guard).

So now we're prepared to waste the next two years extricating from
Iraq while endlessly debating whether it's now a "civil war", or an
"all out civil war". And wondering whether the next thing we learn
about Obama is gonna tilt the scales toward another less well known
newcomer.

Oh, If only there were another Buchanan to save the day.

I will have to say that yes, it has been this bad. Our present-day circumstances certainly alter our perceptions, focusing mostly on what is directly influencing us, what's right in front of our faces. But we most certainly can't forget that throughout the past, people in our shoes were saying the same thing.

It seems that the world's issues my be exacerbated by the fact that technology has changed how quickly we learn about the world's events. Data transfer and knowledge is almost immediate. I strongly believe that the amount of information each and every one of us takes in on a daily basis far exceeds what anybody could have ever imagined in the past, and so we see not necessarily anything new, but just more of what the reality has always been.

I like to look at it this way; for decades, some Christians have been saying 'the end is near!', focusing on the fact that Jesus is coming soon, and that the world's current situation being so bad only makes that more clear. Today, people are still screaming 'the end is near!' because, well, the world's situations are bad. But what has changed? Is the world suddenly worse?

I may be wrong, but I tend to think there is nothing new under the sun.

Kerry rode Vietnam into political office. That is all he has to offer. He is the definition of a political Dinosaur! If he tried to "out Gore" Al Gore he would be an even bigger joke than he is today. The liberal leaders of Mass. think they have some royal line to higher public office. Those damn Cowboys of California and Texas really piss them off!

I think it is obvious that the political climate is dumber than ever because the people here are dumber than ever. The media is very effective as is the education system, that is now literally a UN control scheme. If you don't believe me or don't want to, then take a look at Agenda 21. No Child Left Behind is Agenda 21 and that, along with the 'New Freedom Commission' will destroy our kids minds via brainwashing and 'medical treatment' for all their numerous diseases like ADD or Restless Leg Syndrome, etc.

Even looking around at this forum, where there are plenty of extremely intelligent people, most of you here buy into the false left vs. right paradigm. Because it is not a matter of intelligence. In fact, double-think and circular logic is a sign of intelligence and that is one reason why brain washing en masse is so easy to do on human beings.

The point of the Iraq War is to make profits via war profiteering. A 6 month success is not going to bring the profits a 10 year failure will. And no matter who wins, a central bank will be installed in that area that will have the same owners that our 'Federal' Reserve has. We have a whole congress full of people getting their wallets fat. Do you really think they want an end to this war? Don't believe for a second that Hillary Clinton or George Bush want this to stop.

And all the rest of this, like the NAU, that is not even being discussed, and the ridiculous political debates, that are all but staged. How do any of you buy into this at all?

I mean how do you pick a team when both teams are on the same side? What we've got in the White House right now are the biggest group of Uncle Toms this country has ever seen and the media is just playing good cop/bad cop and making money off of all of it like any corporation would and should.

If you want to change this country then stop watching the mainstream media and expand your mind. Head over to GCNLive.com or RBNLive, etc. something like that. The problem is not too little education; it's too much brainwashing, too many people following the Judas Goats that our media portrays as heros. These people are parasites. Don't defend any of them.

My grandpa told me long ago that television ruined our political system. People actually listen to people like Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Al Franken, and Arianna Huffington instead of forming their own opinions based upon facts and how it related to their beliefs. In newspapers there were printed news, and opinion pieces. People recognized opinion as opinion and facts as facts. Today there is a blurry line that people follow where people believe what pundits say as fact.

I think the worst part of TV politics is the commercial soundbites at election time. They are very misleading, one sided, but they reach the most people and have an effect on the majority of voters. It also leads to much of the MONEY in politics. A newspaper Editorial means nothing. People vote blindly based on slanted commercials, not an informed debate on issues. Right or Left I would bet the farm that the majority of voters are uninformed at the polls!

Yes, no doubt. I was at the library a few months ago checking out some of the old papers from the 50s. I had to get a dictionary to understand half of it.
