| My New Tattoo... So, since I am graduating from college this May, and I'm not knocked up, I want to get a tattoo to commermorate graduating. So, since I'm an English Major, and most of my classes or my emphasis was on Modernism and Contemporary novels and poetry, I thought I should get a tattoo of my favorite author.... So, this is what I'm looking at so far... A) One of the few good things about modern times: If you die horribly on television, you will not have died in vain. You will have entertained us. -Kurt Vonnegut B) Here is a lesson in creative writing. First rule: Do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites representing absolutely nothing. All they do is show you've been to college. - Kurt Vonnegut C) New knowledge is the most valuable commodity on earth. The more truth we have to work with, the richer we become. - Vonnegut C) We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be. -Vonnegut I was thinking of getting the quote across my upper back/neck, and then have this instead of his name: ![]() to attribute the quote, does that make sense? And in case it makes any difference, this would be my 5th tattoo... What quote do you think fits this occassion? I am leaning towards B.

| Sorry, but a tattoo that's just words? Never. I'd get that scribble-face. I would not get a saying tattooed on me. | ||||

| I prefer C from a quote standpoint. The second C is also good from a quote + tatoo standpoint. What is the scribble thing exactly? His signature? | ||||

| That's a lot of words for a tat2. The picture is cool, just not sure how good it would look with all those words around it. | ||||

I think you've got your chicken/egg backwards.

I'd like to clarify the cussing remark too; I like my women to cuss when appropriate...in the bedroom I'm going to use semicolons on Vonnegut's behalf; I know he loves them, and I've been to college.

| I can't imagine having anything to do with grammar tattooed on me. Might as well get "i before e: except after c:" and then later, when funds replenish, get "or when sounding like a: as in neighbor and weigh" on the next line down. | ||||

I want to get something English/Modern/Contemporary related, and although words are uncommon for a tattoo, that is kind of what draws me to it, I thought it could be like the quote in three lines in the middle of my back, and then with a small dash, wish an equal of his charicature (I can't spell that word right now.)
