Human Rights Watch: Israel Guilty of War Crimes

The 50-page report, “Fatal Strikes: Israel’s Indiscriminate Attacks Against Civilians in Lebanon,” analyzes almost two dozen cases of Israeli air and artillery attacks on civilian homes and vehicles. Of the 153 dead civilians named in the report, 63 are children.

Human Rights Watch researchers found numerous cases in which the IDF launched artillery and air attacks with limited or dubious military objectives but excessive civilian cost. In many cases, Israeli forces struck an area with no apparent military target. In some instances, Israeli forces appear to have deliberately targeted civilians.

In one case, an Israeli air strike on July 13 destroyed the home of a cleric known to have sympathy for Hezbollah but who was not known to have taken any active part in the hostilities. Even if the IDF considered him a legitimate target (and Human Rights Watch has no evidence that he was), the strike killed him, his wife, their 10 children and the family’s Sri Lankan maid.

On July 16, an Israeli aircraft fired on a civilian home in the village of Aitaroun, killing 11 members of the al-Akhrass family, among them seven Canadian-Lebanese dual nationals who were vacationing in the village when the war began.

That doesn't even include crimes against humanity for its ethnic cleansing of Shia Muslims

Add that all together and you have more than enough for a trial, our US special forces should arrest Israeli war leaders to stand trial

I want to know what exactly you suggest Israel do?

Should they just let the rockets rain down and let their soldiers be kidnapped?

I agree mistakes have been made, but there is no evidence or rational reason for Isreal to try to kill civilians. Civilian deaths are counterproductive to their cause. Israel is just doing what it feels it needs to do to stop kidnappings and rockets from raining down on their towns (which happen to be intended to kill as many civilians as possible)

The war crimes argument just makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense, like I said, they are killing civilians to drive them north permanently in an ethnic cleansing campaign

I suggest they surrender themselves to international authorities to stand trial

there's no way you honestly believe that. Israel isn't some empire bent on regional takeover, they just want to be left alone. There hasn't been a single unprovoked attack by Israel in the history of its existence. Every time Israel resorts to violence, it is in retailation to violience against itself - almost always occuring within its own borders.

What have you been hearing Israel say? They need miles and miles of Lebanese land to become Israeli

Maybe you want to call it "protective imperialism" but its still a war crime, it fits the description

You can't murder little girls to cause other little girls to flee north so you can accomplish your own self-serving goals, well you can, but then you are a war criminal

Can you show me this law. I'm curious as to which guidelines you're referring to.

Nuremberg Charter

Article 6 defined "crimes against humanity" as including "murder, extermination, enslavement, deportation, and other inhumane acts committed against any civilian population, before or during a war." And Nuremberg made it clear that population transfer is a war crime.

Where does Israel say this? They most definately do NOT want more land - they already have enough trouble keeping people with bombs strapped to their body away from their civilians.

If the neighboring governments could do their jobs - keep the maniacs under control or just kill them, there would be no problem. Take the party of God (Hezbos) out of the equation, Israel and Lebanon would be good friends.

What if Jews had chosen to simply immigrate to the US instead where it was safe, greatest country on earth right? What if they chose somewhere else in the world where there weren't happy families living in houses already? What if they hadn't kicked them out?
