| Do you approve of Pelosi? Or are you part of the 22% that disapprove? | ||||

| I approve of dems controlling the house while there's a president who could possibly be clinically GOP retarded. Pelosi is a bit too liberal for my taste, I'd have preferred someone a bit more moderate. It also seems to me she's going to be the liberal version of Newt Gingrich - a media whore who will do or say anything to get her face in the papers. It is a bit early to say that with absolution, but that's just my current prediction. | ||||

| Anything she did that makes you think she's going to be a firebrand...it seems quite the opposite...no impeachment, no defunding of the entire war effort, etc | ||||

How much work can a congress do when it's daily activity switches to studying reports and hearing testimony?
As for defunding the war effort, it's a bit soon. A LOT of people are still calling for either something productive (that exhibits results) to be done soon or to gtfo. Although, I don't think defunding is the way to get us out, that would just label a lot of democrats as haters of America and it's soldiers. They don't want to put our guys over there in any MORE danger than they're already in, that's political suicide. The democrats have been whining for 6 years about not being taken seriously, the last thing they can do now is play it fast and loose. All this promising of immediate results from the dem congress and the 100 hour count down stuff, that's just fluff to let people know (or at least make them think) that they are working on issues. To me, it's pointless. They need to actually work on real stuff because they're only ensured 2 years to get anything done. If all they did for 6 months is research every wiretapping, PATRIOT Act usage, war decision, etc... so that they can give us conclusive evidence that what has happened wasn't needed or was gone about the wrong way (eg., powers abused), then they'll have no problems having support from Americans when they scale back those GOP shit bills that were fed to us coated with a thin candy shell labeled "security." It's just an opportunity for greatness. I hope they don't squander it. | ||||
