| Graduation Speech So, our college sent around an email asking students to submit speeches for graduation. It's basically a competition. I'm actually interested in entering...might as well make it worth going to my graduation. Also, me and Jajae are graduating at the same time...it would be something cool to share. Question though: I can write about anything, but I need some suggestions. What would you write your college graduation speech about? | ||||

| You definitely have to hvae a motivational-type speech, but it has to have present-day relevance. Condi Rice spoke one yr at Vandy. She was very good. We had some bitch I didn't know speak at mine. | ||||

| Whe I graduated high school, I wrote a speech and got to present it at graduation. I started my speech talking about pop culture icons of the 80s such as Smurfs, Care Bears, and so on, and then recollected about He-man and She-Ra and then used them as a metaphor for a class willing to fight oppression and evil. I used examples out of books Seniors had to read that year (1984, Hamlet) and I also used Modern Present Day examples of fighting oppression such as the Columbine Massacre. The emphasis in my speech was that oppression started here, but we as a generation have the power to end it with our new found freedom as adults into the world. I wish I would have had it recorded for myself. I think I would center it around a single concept. Or a central idea or message that you yourself believe in, that you think they should believe in too. I don't really appreciate the whole moving up and beyond College thing, I think it's played out. Using it as an opportunity to show off a virtue you think is more important I think is more eye catching. If you do something different you may be rewarded for it. | ||||

| how about something Dave Barry'esque making fun of school traditions, places and teachers ? I always hated graduation speeches and thought I could come up with something much more entertaining and memorable. This sounds like a good opportunity. | ||||

| ..... your a worthless poster Realist ![]() ![]()
| I know what I'd talk about but it wouldn't really apply because it's a personal story about quitting school, finding out what really mattered to my parents, working to fix it, and growing up along the way............and getting blown off a roof by a helicopter ![]() Write about why you went to school, why you went there, why you studied what you studied, how lucky all those kids are to be sitting there...... but be careful not to preach. It sucks when speakers do that. | ||||
