| Job Help - This really sucks.. (Decesion making, hs drama) I can't make up my damn mind. Job 1: Grocery store, started in July 04. First Job. Started as sacker, moved up 10 mos later with a $0.50/hr raise to cashier. Been cashiering 1.5 years, best they got and they haven't offered me a raise so I said **** it and found a new job.... Job 2: Red Lobster, started mid December 06. Serving, I have 3 tables, I make salads, get biscuits, drinks, take orders, clean, bring food out. **** like that. I love the job, the money is GREAT. However the hours suck getting off at 10-11 at night on a school night and I have trouble already waking up for school in the morning. I've debated dropping my morning class (I'm a senior in high school - I have enough credits and don't need it) to where I wouldn't have a class until 11:00 and that'd give me plenty of time to sleep in and do homework. If I did that I would have English, Am Govt, and Pre Calc so I wouldn't be missing any hard classes. I've already been accepted to Kansas State University so all I need to do is pass but I'd like to help my GPA a little bit. I really have no clue what the **** to do, I've secured a raise at Job 1 to be in dairy and make $1/hr more than I made as a cashier but I'm pulling a easy $3/hr more at Job 2. It really sucks I've been on a fence about this for a long time and I've been working 45 hours a week with no time to think about it. I've got my 2 weeks in at Job 2 but I could probably rip it up and stay I think because they need the help... ugh ****. Yeah. Cliffs: Worked as cashier for a long time without a raise, found a new job and love it however the hours weren't really working out so I secured a raise at the old job with a promotion and I'm going back but I really like my new job so yeah.

| I think you're almost done with HS, is there a red lobster where kstate is? If so stay at red lobster, if there's no redlobster are there any places owned by their parent company? Do you plan on working at the grocery store after you start school? Seems to me that redlobster is clearly the better job and with only about 18 weeks left in HS seems like you could rough it | ||||

| I understand it's important to you but you also need to realize these are throw-away jobs. Pick the one that gives you the most of what you want while also taking away the least you don't want. Only you can weight school v money v hours v toys v position v whatever else. I'd take the one that allowed me freedom to fit it into my schedule while also paying the most. That may mean that the best job doesn't pay the absolute most if it isn't flexible enough to fit my schedule. How can we know what's most important to you? | ||||

| As far as a update goes: I was going to talk with the manager this afternoon but by the time she was free we started getting busy and didn't die down till 9-10 o'clock and by that time I was totally ****ing orders up and I got pretty stressed out. At that point I didn't like Job 2 so I didn't want to say anything to her. It was my errors that I had to correct on the computer and physically and that put me behind and caused me to make more errors so it was a mess. I was really nice with her thanking her (the manager) for being patient with me so I'm going to work tomorrow morning and see how that goes then I will talk to her when I'm "split" till dinner. | ||||

| Here's my advice, and it's something that'll benefit you throughout college too. Continue in the service business. Not only will you easily be able to climb the 'ladder' quickly, but you'll also be exposed to the service industry throughout college. Anybody that's worked it knows what a party it is. Your goal in this industry? To become a bartender. If you're in college and a bartender, and a good one, you'll be making mad bank, laying the chicks, and have tons of friends; not realy friends of course, caues they'll only like you for free drinks, getting in to a club for free, etc. Nobody in college works at a grocery store, so I'd stick with something that'll benefit you throughout your college job. You ARE going to work while in college, right? | ||||

I thiiink I've already said this but my last day would have been today and I talked to my boss and she put me on the schedule for next week so I'm officially back in the door. The people at this job are fucking awesome I've already made good friends with a couple of them and we have a good time. If I didn't have any stress I'd fucking love my job to death. However there is always the stress of having multiple people's dinning experience counting on you.

Like I'm always (at school, at my other job) the last one in and the first one out... Last night I actually chilled with the guys for 20 mins after work we were just talking about asshat customers... The general manager was even chatting with us. I got a complaint that there was no meat in some customers live lobster so she went out there with gloves and cracked the whole thing for her. The lady kept interrupting her when she was explaining that she was going to run to the kitchen and get some gloves so she could show her it was pretty funny.
