+20 US Soldiers killed by Iraqis today

NBC News reports more than 20, but at least 19 has been reported just during the day...13 in black hawk down, 5 in karbala, 1 in northern iraq

Karbala is normally tranquil, but it was shia militias, nbc news reports high ranking US military officers could have been killed...with all the information shia militias get from the iraqi government on US troop deployments, it looks more likely that big ambushes like this will happen

What do you think about 20+ in one day and shia militias planting ambushes of high level meetings?

I've been hearing that it's going to be months before the 'surge' troops get over there, so in the mean time it's probably going to get worse.

I really hope this plan works, I have no confidence in it and would much prefer a sane option, but I'd like to see it succeed so we can start leaving.

If the Iraqi's are unwilling or unable to work towards a unified country, we can't force them to do it..

New details did emerge today about clashes in the Shiite holy city of Karbala, which left five Americans dead on Saturday. Lt. Col. Scott R. Bleichwehl, an American military spokesman, said the gunmen who stormed the provincial governor’s office during a meeting between American and local officials were wearing American military uniforms in an effort to impersonate United States soldiers.

Wow, what are we going to do when we find death squads wearing american uniforms? These kinds of ambushes would be the worst because who knows who is who? Will it create a situation where friendly fire incidents sky-rocket?

I will reply. Seems "some peoples" think soldiers dying in war is unheard of, a rare event , some sort of anomaly!
Lets analyse this. WAR, GUNS ,BOMBS ,BULLETS , SOLDIERS TRAINED TO FIGHT AND TRAINED TO KILL!!!

I agree that the situation was highly suspect. If Iraqi government officials are
aiding other enemy groups to target our guys we should find out who is doing that and then shoot them on the spot.

Chesty Puller was not a dictator .
Shooting those that are in league with the enemy there is not exactly murdering innocent people as Saddam did by the hundreds of thousands.

In fact I agree sending more troops if handled correctly with more severe measures could make a great difference there!

I do not and never have supported any open ended campaign in Iraq. I have advocated more troops ,more extreme measures and faster death to the enemy!
