Since that's what they represent to me does that mean that's really what they represent? Or do they represent what the DESIGNER/BUILDER said they represent...the seven seas and seven continents?

| That's an interesting question, since it's art, can't you take from it what you want? Surely not everyone gets the same thing out of seeing a Monet or the Mona Lisa. | ||||

| Did the artist say "this is what this is about"? If so, that's what it's about. If you assign more or other meaning to it then, IMO, you're wrong. | ||||

| Or maybe they think he was trying to conceal the real meaning and want to re-interpret his work | ||||

| I'm not saying I agree with it, but people reinterpret the meaning of various pieces of artwork all the time, there's nothing wrong with it. If you're going to lay out a theory of what the meaning of something is other than "what it means to me [you]" -- it should be backed up with some reasoning, though. The link in the OP, whether you agree with their conclusions, has at least tried to make their case for their theory.. you haven't. | ||||

| You've misunderstood, I'm talking about making a case for "the seven Quartangs between Nehhbrala and < > (the name is unpronounceable with your primitive human vocal tools)" being the true/alternative/whatever meaning, not your case for whether or not he's wrong. Again, if you want to re-interpret artwork has having some different meaning, more than simply "what it means to you" or "what you take from it," then you need to at least make a case for it. Granted, I haven't read the entire thread, but maybe you've created a website explaining Quartangs and Nehhbrala and < > somewhere.. | ||||

His case for the rays meaning something other than the 7 seas and 7 continents is "The rays on her head can mean whatever they mean to the viewer." The other guy's speculation is the rays stand for the sun.......I guess because rays come from the sun? If he's allowed to speculate so am I.

| Interpretation is more fun with a shred of evidence or reasoning though. | ||||

| Yet there's all these enterpretations on this thread. You, the enlightened one, have solved the riddle. seems kinda like enterpreting the Bible. No two people are entirely on the same page. Sometimes we can only agree to disagree and call in an empasse | ||||
