And the idea of getting new legislation passed saying we want laws to be stricter also tells the enforcers that the people want the laws enforced. This would have been a good stepping stone to making laws more strict and letting the ones with power to do something about it realize that America wants it done. Instead the Democrats strongly blocked it telling them that what they've been doing (ignoring it) is what America wants. This was the wrong move for America and a step in the wrong direction. Bush had his catch-phrases and stuck to them ignoring other issues. Now with the 100 hours the Democrats are doing the same thing they accused the GOP of. I'm sick and tired of hearing about "100 hours." I'd rather them do something good things for America and stop ignoring important issues to make sure they can withhold all the media attention to raise the minimum wage and other such agendas. What a waste. | ||||

| I don't agree with a guest worker program honestly. After reading up on it, it seems like it creates an underclass of people in this country, and I think Americans will do those jobs if the pay is right. Just the other day I saw a homeless guy on the street looking for carpentry work. I suspect he couldn't get a job due to the large number of illegals in the construction industry in North Carolina. I'm definitely conservative on immigration because I think we're a nation of laws, and I don't think the law should be selectively enforced or applied like some do when it comes to issues like illegal wiretapping, etc.. I think it's ridiculous Bush has done nothing to solve this, and even more ridiculous that Democrats would continue his policy by blocking attempts to solve immigration problems. That said, I think the vast majority of illegal immigrants are good people who simply want to do a days work, get paid, support their family and live their lives. However, they broke the law when they came here. I have no problem with immigration when it's done legally, but we have a massive interest in knowing who coming into our country for obvious reasons. With borders more open than Paris Hilton after a few drinks, we're leaving ourselves incredibly vulnerable to attacks, not just from terrorism, but from smaller time criminals, drug cartels, regular crime, etc.. | ||||

| If you serve in a division of the Armed Forces, you're automatically granted citizenship. I think we should just draft the illegal immigrants, make them serve in our military, and then grant amnesty to whoever is left. If they decide that they'd rather not live here under that condition, then perhaps they can do something else to prove allegiance. ![]() Or we can just conquer Mexico. Mexican Fed just ordered Tijuana cops to disarm (the cops are literally carrying slingshots now | ||||

I'll reserve judgement until they shoot it down when Sessions proposes it as it's own bill.
