Local Hate Crime Ignored by Media Surfaces After Guilty Verdict

Trials involve tons and tons of documents, I can't believe anyone is seriously suggesting that black-on-white crime is under-sentenced...I shouldn't even have to explain this...death row anyone?

Looking at the statistics, the basic lesson of how to avoid being executed? Don't be black and murder a white person, that's the one sure ticket to execution

Just last year I was in Philadelphia, as always, a city known for its liberal politicians, liberal judges, liberal appointments, black population, etc

To be anecdotal, a black 18 year old high school student shoved a white girl (she was unhurt) to the ground and took her purse, judge gave him 10 years, the kid was clean cut, no prior history, was headed to college, his family was there pleading at his sentencing...judge threw the book at him, not with any anger, just "you broke the law and these are the consequences" speech

We're talking about "hate crime" laws being used against people committing obviously racism-driven crimes who happen to be minorities.

The other case you're talking of is hardly relevant to this case or situation.. and I don't think most murder by blacks is racially driven, but feel free to post some evidence to the contrary if that's what you're suggesting.

You were extending this a little more than just hate crimes, it may not have been your intent, but it looks like it

I am just clarifying that for a black person to get lenient sentencing in assault is an EXTREME exception to the rule

This case is messed up before you even get to the hate crime part...probably because there are lots of details an article can't hope to cover

Trying to link this back to the "hate crime double standard" do you have any idea how many hours are put into these cases? Really to come back and say "aha, i read this article, i know the case" is really

Here is an article summary of a case I've talked about before: "31 year old worker convicted of raping boss's 15 year old daughter, given house arrest for 1 year"

Now, what I've left out are all the details, which would take pages for me to write out, basically, the most conservative judge in the state (was a republican relgious conservative state rep before he got appointed) called the sentence, so you knew it was legit

when you dig beneath the surface, you realize the guy was a cook in his 20s when it happened, the girl was 15 but told him she was 16 and age of consent etc it was ok, guy still turned her down, and the jury established as a fact that she stalked him for months and then basically threatened his job unless he fucked her, [i saw the girl she was hot] he eventually was seduced and then finally in a fit of teenage anger that he was thinking of moving, went and told her dad that she was raped, which the jury found ridiculous, because eventually she admitted under cross that it was consensual

There's more too, but basically, read the title, which is entirely true, and then read what I wrote

The devil is in the details, and until the entire trial transcripts are posted (which would never happen) I'm not inclined to believe summaries that are made to generate hits/interest rather than find the truth

They were charged with a hate crime, and then black activists came out and were calling racism, etc, etc. That and the media frenzy no doubt played a huge role in the sentencing of these people.

People are afraid to be called racist, or anti-semitic, etc.. even when it's obvious they're not.

Yes, and if I had a nickel for everytime a black family of 20+ got up during sentencing and said the judge was racist and he'd get kicked out...I wouldn't be ordering water at restaurants to save money

Judges have to deal with all sorts of charges more often than not...you'd be surprised

did he have a weapon on him? There has to be more to the story
