| US Speaker Pelosi meets Pakistan's Musharraf AFP - The speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record), held talks with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf focusing on the fight against terror, officials said. Details of Pelosi's meeting with Musharraf were not immediately available but the talks were expected to focus on US-ally Pakistan's role in the so-called war on terror. The visit follows the reported passage of a bill in the House of Representatives that requests US President George W. Bush ensure Pakistan was doing enough to curb Islamic militancy in return for continued assistance to the country. The legislation is yet to pass the US Senate. The Democrat is expected to visit Afghanistan on Sunday as part of her first visit to the region since becoming the first woman to head the key Congressional office.
