If you think "hard work" pays off because it is hard work, you are mistaken. Clever work pays off, it does not need to be hard or much, all you need to do is have people believe they are getting what they want...

I'd imagine lots of minimum wage earners are very young people who will advance elsewhere after getting an education or training to work somewhere else.

| I dunno if it's a waste. Taking into account productivity, I wonder which is the net gain for society...minimum wage with fewer jobs and more productivity, or no minimum wage with more jobs and lower productivity...or they're roughly equal to each other? I don't know...I'm trying to quantify this instead of making it a philosophical question. I'm such an economic noob that I don't really know what I'm talking about. Surely someone has read more about this? Care to chime in? | ||||

| I was not really talking about physically hard, though it still illustrates the point to a degree. It does not matter if you are a incompetent slacker if you don't come across as one. The same way it does not matter how hard you try or how much effort you put in if people don't see it. | ||||
