You can think of the government as being the most powerful/corrupt monopoly of all.

That's EXACTLY how I view government-run entities. Government-funding is fine for the American system (obviously I oppose it in ideology). That is, fund the school system, fund the law enforcement system, fund the roads, et al., but let the private sector take care of actually running it.

Think of the "voucher" system that is used for schools in case there's confusion on how this could be done. I propose that we extend that concept to all other social entities within the government.

Yes, in most respects.

I certainly don't trust the government to always perform tasks well, but I also don't believe the private sector is automatically better.

The private sector is profit oriented most of the time, this means you must pay a surplus for the profit.

Do you think that the government is not profit-driven?

One wouldn't think so considering how bad they are managing money. They should break-even oriented.

I don't know why anyone would trust a corporation in the first place. A corporation's only goal is to make as much money as it can. It's like a goldfish. If a CEO of a corporation does not run the corporation this way then he/she is quickly replaced. The only thing you can trust or count on in regards to a corporation is its greed. I'm not saying that is always a bad thing but there is no reason to ever get emotionally invested in the concept itself or a corporation. They're certainly not emotionally invested in you, not beyond the dollar anyways. Don't take my post the wrong way, I'm not a Communist or anything but corporations will do what they can to make a buck, whether it's bribing government officials to get tax dollars or using slaves overseas.

The government is motivated by the exact same things, except the government is an artificial monopoly enstated and sanctioned by its own laws. Our antitrust laws effectively broke apart AT&T because of its natural monopoly, but those same antitrust laws don't extend to the federal entities within the government. Why? Well, because then some asshole in the government might lose his job.

The government doesn't even apply anti-trust laws to the corporations anymore most of the time. And I'd be more than happy just to totally dissolve all these government agencies.
