Most people are willing to look out for their own interests through self responsibility and not the responsibility of others. People are free to look out for their own interests as long as it doesn't involve taking from others. I don't mind giving to people looking out for their own interests first as long as they are giving 100% to help themselves first.

People need to put the focus of helping and looking out for themselves onto themselves and not others. No able-bodied man should be another man's burden. I also feel welfares should be paid back, in small percentages over time once the receiver has moved back on track. If you take from your neighbor you should give it back when you're capable... even if it's only $20 a month and the person has to do without internet until their debt to society is paid off.

Collecting taxes is theft. Paying them is voluntary.
Semantics aside, the concept of taxation is theivery. It's theivery that is allowed by the masses to support something that they feel will benefit everybody. The problem is, "the masses" is actually just "the majority" and when the majority thinks about "everybody," they tend to ignore "the minority." Taxation is oppressive, which is why the original text of the Constitution only allowed for extremely limited taxation for USPS, a military, and to pay war debts.

We are polarized. I will always look out for my interests over yours and vice versa. This isn't a diversive tactic. It's the way the world works. It's naive to act as if it dosen't work that way.
Bullshit. If I was looking out for my interests over yours, then I would be in favor of stealing from you to support me for the rest of my life. The fact is - as foreign as this may sound to you - I actually value the rights of others, including the minority.

Yes your sytem is sure to look out for the minority (as long as they are wealthy).

I said the rights, not the well-being. I don't think my well-being is something that ought to be considered by everyone else if it's going to violate their rights.

Instead of being dishonest here, try to explain how my system would violate the rights of anybody. I could go on for days about the stupidity that is socialism, but let's see how far you can get with libertarianism.

Looking out for your interests is one thing, looking out for them at the literal expense of others is quite another and flies in the face of protecting rights.

I disagree in concept. It is a condition of working. Don't want to pay tax, get the law changed.
