Cures for Headaches

Does anyone know a cure for a headache?

Tylenol doesn't seem to work for me anymore and I can't take any other sort of painkiller or aspirin.

I'm really looking for something that's not OTC related.

Caffeine, water, or a bowel movement.

Unless it's a migraine, one of those will most likely work.

Had a cup of tea, drank a water bottle and went to the bathroom. None of them have alleviated the pain unfortunately haha.

I don't think it's a migraine. Doesn't feel like one. Is pretty dull. I get them often. Possibly a tension headache.

Sex sometimes helps too.

I take BC powder; a mix of caffeine and aspirin in powder form. It hits the spot within min.

People don't just have headaches very often for no reason. You should evaluate your diet, where you work, etc and find out the root cause for the headaches, remove that cause, and then you'll be fine.

In my experience *most* headaches are caused by dust, pollen, mold, etc. which is why sex works to get rid of the headaches...nothing like some vigorous breathing through the mouth and nose to knock the particles out of your nasals!

I tend to go for a walk. If the headache is too bad. Maybe a damp cloth on the back of the neck, while listening to some soothing music, while in bed with the lights off.

ok, seriously

a pharmacist told me it's ok to take up to 800mg of aleve. I kind of didn't believe him but then i remembered the last time I got a pain reliever from my doc, each pill was something like 500mg of naproxen and I had to take 2 pills twice daily as needed..... that's 2000mg/day.

OTC aleve has 220mg of naproxen (on the bottle I'm looking at, anyway) so go ahead and pop 4 and then 8 hours later if the headache isn't gone take 4 more. And if it still isn't gone then the cause it (IMO) environmental and you need to figure out what's causing it.

I may be allergic to codeine so when I got my wisdom teeth removed I was prescribed 1200mg doses of motrin. The prescription was like $40. I asked the pharmacist if I could just take a bunch of over the counter and they were like... "Well yea, I guess so.. it's the same thing as long as you take the right amount." Got a bottle for $6.

Do the doses depend on weight? You could be 220lbs and this might be read by a 90lb girl. I know nothing about medicine/pharmacy but my gut tells me body weight has some connection to recommended & max doses.

she's a 90lb dancer?

sorry, I'm back................. yes, it matters. Don't go by this but I do not believe it's linear. So I'm 220lbs and took 800mg 2x/day. If she weighs 90lbs I do not believe that means she'd be presribed 60% less.

She should ask a pharmacist. They'll know and they'll give good advice.
