If a Republican had said this it would have been page 1 of the New York Times. Now it seems to be a joke, but it is all over the blogosphere on both the left and right. It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of this. Personally I don't like Biden, but I think it would be foolish if this had serious effects on his career.

He announced he's running for president this morning. This could hurt him.

There was also this about Obama:

Mr. Biden is equally skeptical—albeit in a slightly more backhanded way—about Mr. Obama. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” he said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

If anything this would strengthen my support for Biden. He's willing to be an average American and say what's on his mind...

Edwards -- malpractice/personal injury lawyer should not run the US, sorry.
Hillary -- wakes up and checks the polls to see what her opinions are each day.. sorry, sit down
Obama -- gave one good speech and voted against the war and therefore he's a God to many because nobody knows what he really stands for other than he's anti-Iraq and can give a nice speech (he hasn't been around long enough).
Clark -- Would be a nobody if he hadn't been a General. He was an ex-General who was willing to whore himself to the anti-Iraq media early on and they ate him up based on his (G) status. He's a nobody.

Biden is the only real experienced person they've got running and who seems to not be afraid to be himself. I've disagreed with just about everything he's ever said and done, but I respect him a lot more than the other phonies running.

It sounds to me like this guy need to go to a 'rehabilitation center' for forced drugging and counseling by Dr. Phil or perhaps GREG, maybe even Rosie O'Donnell, the picture perfect example of someone with great mental health.

Democrats need the minority vote in order to win. And it's a very fragile vote that has been taken advantage of. I agree, bitching about this is lame. We'll see how it turns out.

It'll be interesting to see how Al Sharpton responds to this. I don't think he'll be able to control himself here.

All things Sharpton is not. Yet I'm willing to bet we'll hear a mouthful.

This comment was meant as a compliment to Obama. And I agree with it in a lot of ways. However, it is a slap in the face to every other black congressman.

And the Indian remark was obviously a joke. It was refreshing to see a politician talk to the camera(American public) like he would his buddies at home.

I would probably agree that the media would blow it up if it was a conservative / republican, but in both cases it's retarded and stupid.

Now, if someone says something like "We're going to go hang some niggers tonight! YEEHAA!", then sure, report on that. But all this other PC crap is just that - crap.

I personally like Biden, I disagree with his politics but I think he's honest about what he wants.

Obama IS clean-cut, clean-shaven, and relatively clean-looking overall. I see nothing wrong with calling him clean.

This is only a racist remark because everyone else assumes blacks aren't known to be clean and are making a big deal about someone saying it. Would anybody be in trouble for calling a white man clean? Surely not, but why? Are white men supposedly already considered clean?

Of course it is. And who has set up that environment where everyone in public life walks on eggshells over anything they say that might have a race or sexual overtone. Unlike Michael Richards, most of it is not meant to hate. I watched Lisa Lampanelli on Comedy Central last night. She is an insult comic and no PC rules apply. At the end of her show she individually thanked the people out front that she targeted for being good sports. One man who she thought was jewish (like her) was not but he played along the whole time. If we could all lighten up a little?

I don't see how this is racist or ignorant. He was complimenting the man. I like being called clean as well.
