Gee funny I gave props to McCain in 2000, to conservatives like Sen. Coburn, Sen. Hagel...others like Specter, Collins/Snowe, Barry Goldwater of the past, Pat Buchanan in certain situations

I spread a lot of praise around to Republicans, but at least you admit you are hopelessly bias, I wondered why I had you on ignore...well looks like we're back to that, no offense

And you're ignoring the fact that I've criticised conservatives and liberals as well.

You're the one who's admitted to being hopelessly biased, especially concerning how much you demonose conservatives to no end. So what if you've given congrats to a conservative, only because the conservative has said something you agreed with.

You'd never give any kind of acknowledgement to any other conservative anywhere.

I agree, thats why i think the 60 vote majority is not a bad thing sometimes. Especially in a 50/50 senate. It forces at least 10 from the other party to be on board.

Personally I'd love to see the end of political aprties myself, we'd see the end of partisan politics.

actually I think it would be worse, because there would be coalition governments that would be built from small fractions of society and it would move the debate from the mainstream and into more extremist places

I said it before, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being a party of obstructionism. It's warranted, and IMO required in certain instances to prevent one party from getting away with too much.

I'm not sure "mainstream" is always the best place to be. Extreme viewpoints (from what is currently the norm) can be dangerous but sometimes they can be good.

I agree with you to a point, but there comes a time when the obstructionism is unwarranted and unfounded to the extreme. The Democrats took it a bit too for a little while a few years ago. They later calmed down. I really hope the Republicans don't do the same thing.

When a party starts obstructing everything out of habit and not the best interest of their party or the country, I have a problem. When it becomes popular or politically motivated to obstruct everything proposed by a "D" we have a problem.

I agree. It is nothing more than partisanship when you use it all the time. As a smart parent would say "Chose your battles."

But I don't see it in this case. All Republican want is a right to debate their meaningless vote along with the Democrats meaningless vote. If they had this kind of fight over actual troop funding that would be another matter. But this looks more like early campaigning for 2008. Somebody poor cold water on the whole lot of them.
