are you sure that is the entire video, and that's not just a piece of a larger video?

I don't know, but it may be that the entire video is classified and just that part was declassified.

Sounds like a reasonable precaution, I have no issue with that.

However if someone wants to get hold of the information then one would expect that the classification be reviewed to determine if it is still required.

Sucks for that pilot.

And its classified because of the families. The DoD usually doesn't release video of American soldiers being killed, for family privacy reasons..

If i were an enemy of the US, id know to take aerophotos of what the top of their vehicles look like and use those kind of color strips on all vehicles to avoid getting shot

however i am sure most countries already knew about the orange stripes, especially russia/china

In the case of friendly fire it can also be the privacy of the ones who did the killing. I didn't actually read the article till you said that, and seeing how it was American killing British troops, the fact it involved two massive, lumbering bureaucracies probably had something to do with it.
