Haggard "Completely Heterosexual" after rehab

One of four ministers who oversaw three weeks of intensive counseling for the Rev. Ted Haggard said the disgraced minister emerged convinced that he is "completely heterosexual."

Haggard also said his sexual contact with men was limited to the former male prostitute who came forward with sexual allegations, the Rev. Tim Ralph of Larkspur told The Denver Post for a story in Tuesday's edition.

"He is completely heterosexual," Ralph said. "That is something he discovered. It was the acting-out situations where things took place. It wasn't a constant thing."

Haggard resigned as president of the National Association of Evangelicals last year after allegations of sexual misconduct surfaced. He was also forced out from the 14,000 New Life Church that he founded years ago in his basement after Jones alleged Haggard paid him for sex and sometimes used methamphetamine when they were together. Haggard, who is married, has publicly admitted to "sexual immorality."

i'll never understand how such a large segment of the christian population can so easily dismiss science. i've discussed this with a few and they simply don't care that these 'conversions' aren't documented scientifically. its enough that the 'converted' say that they are, and will take this testimony and use it as incontrovertible proof it can happen.

Science has not determined how one becomes a homosexual. So, it could be true that he is no longer having homosexual impulses. I'm not saying he is or isn't. He's a scumbag. I just find it funny when people are talking about science in this thread, when science hasn't proven anything regarding this.

Science HAS determined how hormone baths in the womb (among other things) affect the sexual bias of the fetus... It's not a binary concept either. There isn't much controversy about this other than from loons who want to reaffirm their religious faith. I always find it interesting that science is only challenged from these people when it conflicts with their emotional need for certain beliefs to remain valid instead of disciplines where the science might actually be weak.

That's rather a large blanket you just thew on a lot of people. The vast majority of Christians do not follow these evangelical types and have a great deal of interest in science. You would be shocked to find how many scientists and medical professionals go to church.

But you are correct in that some of the more goofy followers who do not see any truth outside the Bible will probably fall for this magic transformation and put those checks in the mail! Not much different than those who don't accept any truth outside the Koran.

Yet only ~50% of identical twins are both homosexual ? Same genes, same hormones, almost exact same experiences after birth.

Well duh, one of them chooses to do the cool thing and live a lifestyle shunned by society.

The only drawback is the homosexual sex, but it's worth a sausage in the poop-chute to get all the other perks involved in choosing to be gay.

They were talking about this on NPR today. The Christian community (at least, the part Haggard was a part of) doesn't even believe in homosexual people. They think they're simply sinning and the devil and blah blah blah, so if they renounce their sins and follow Christ, then this and that and so on and so forth.

He can deny his sexual desires and impulses all he wants, it's not going to change his true orientation as a bisexual.
