More of Ron Paul's commitment to a Constitutional federal government

110th Congress, 1st session, House vote 45 | Congress votes database | washingtonpost.com

He was the only dissenting no vote on a bill that would:

"require the establishment of a national database in the National Archives to preserve records of servitude, emancipation, and post-Civil War reconstruction and to provide grants to State and local entities to establish similar local databases."

voted against a bill that would give funding to keep records of slaves and post civil war tidbits of info.

Congress is required to publish its activities "from time to time" but the federal government isnt supposed to be appropriating money to states to keep historical records, etc.

There already is a database, they are just talking about adding records, very important historical records...probably some of the best money we've spent in a long time

and don't give me the "smaller governemnt at every turn" he's voted for other spending items

he just voted for this today
Legislative Issues - Bainbridge Island Japanese-American Memorial Act

yeah, that makes a lot more sense than adding files to an already established database of historical records

Sounds like an interesting project, though I am not sure it could be argued to be worth funding at least in any entirety

It's supporting a federal project that involves studies, buildings, monuments, etc

They didn't appropriate money because its at the discretion of the federal government with no spending cap

2) In order to implement an agreement provided for in paragraph (1), the Secretary may--

(A) make grants to the City of Bainbridge Island for development of an administrative and interpretive facility for the Nidoto Nai Yoni Memorial;

(B) enter into a cooperative management agreement with the City of Bainbridge Island, pursuant to section 3(l) of Public Law 91-383 (16 U.S.C. 1a-2(l); popularly known as the `National Park System General Authorities Act'), for the purpose of providing assistance with operation and maintenance of the memorial;

(C) make grants to other non-Federal entities for other infrastructure projects at the memorial, subject to a match of non-Federal funding equal to the amount of a grant made pursuant to this paragraph; and

(D) make grants or enter into cooperative agreements with non-Federal entities to support development of interpretive media for the memorial.
