NEW YORK (AP) -- The Ku Klux Klan has rebounded by exploiting current hot-button issues, especially immigration, according to a new report released by the Anti-Defamation League.

The Klan, and other white supremacist groups like skinheads and neo-Nazis, grew significantly more active in the past year, holding more rallies, distributing leaflets and increasing their presence on the Internet -- much of it focused on stirring anti-immigrant sentiment, according to the report.

I wonder if it went higher the past 2 years, and if immigration reform is passed, will we see a rise like what happened in the 1920s?

I would have to ask up 63% from what? As dispicable these lowlifes are I don't here of the rampant wave of crime by the KKK? Los Angeles has an estimated 700 gangs with 40,000 members. The last time I saw a KKK Wizard was on an MTV program and he was a pathetic 30 something who lived with his mom and was a joke to the local neighbor kids.

If I remember correctly the lowpoint were the reagan years, (why join the klan when you can just...oh ill skip that joke its too harsh

) then they surged back in the 90s to still low levels, now they've surged again, still low levels but it's disturbing it's something we should be shrinking

They have swollen to an alarming 8,000 members according to the CNN article. I wonder how many days before 8,000 have crossed our borders illegally? I don't think illegals have much to worry about unless they move to Alabama/Georgia where they concentrate and still have fanatasies about winning the Civil War. More pathetic than harmful, but if they do get out of line and break laws lock em up!

The fact that they would exploit the immigrant problem is a no brainer. The Minuteman Group were very careful to keep the "nut" variety out and were watched like a hawk by liberal media for a slip up. Very smart of them. They knew that even if one got in by accident the media would blow the whole thing up on a national level to discredit them. They still have a bucket of tar and feathers at the ready....

Yes, the media ignores gang activities. Turn on the local news in Chicago and that's all you hear about.

And "non-violent"? Just because they haven't commited a violent act in a while does not make them buddist monks.

A lot of them are in prison not because of a crackdown on gangs, but because they got arrested for some other crime. Gang members aren't known to be upstanding citizens.

Some areas are cracking down on gangs, some areas are pretending to be and others really aren't making much of an effort at all. Strangely suburban areas make a bigger deal out of it than a lot of urban areas.

Well they don't usually throw people in jail for being in a gang. You get put in for commiting a crime.

There has been an increase in racial killings beween territories of black and hispanic gangs in the La Area. Innocent people getting killed. On top of police intervention the usual solutions are given. More Recreation centers, ect....

Maybe we should build some clubs for the KKK if they behave?
