Is racism something one is or is it something one does?

Are there differing degrees of racism?

If an active campaigning racist was to deny that they were a racist does it make any difference? Why would they do so?

Who has difficulty 'tolerating' dirty, filthy, smelly liberals with their disgusting ways that need to be pointed out & derided at every oppertunity?

Can a person be racist under these circumstances as described below?

The person, male or female, does not like being around people of other ethnic backgrounds. They person is very nervous around them and won't be around them if they can, and avoids them as much as they can. They are much more comfortable around people of their own ethnicity.

But here's the thing, the person is completgely against discrimination and would not discriminate against them, such as hiring one for an important position such as manager, and strives to end racial discrimination.

Is that person racist?

And would you admit to being racist if asked, not neccessarily accused?

The only reason someone would feel uncomfortable around another race is if they had predisposed notions about that race.

I feel no different around any racial group

I have a major gripe with affirmative action. It is a disgusting display of reverse discrimination. No person should be denied financial assistance, college entry or a job because they are not a "minority." This is to include considering women a "minority" (which I am.)

Why is affirmative action generally accepted and tolerated in our society but any other form of "racism" are not? To each his own. Choosing to dislike others for matters of race, sex, religion etc. is ignorant but that doesn't mean that you can change the fact that people will always do it.

Demanding "tolerance" is impossible. It goes against the basic human institution of freedom of will. To some discrimination itself is detestable, to others certain belief systems, races of people, sexual orientations or any other such issue, are detestable.

Everone is entitled to their opinion...and you know what they say about that:

"Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one."
